I adore the trend right now that includes orange lipstick and nail lacquer!
I also love that matte influence that is out there right now.
I was in Mac asking about using orange with my skin tone and she made two recommendations.
For lipstick with my skin tone, go more towards the coral side of orange.
And with nail lacquer you can make the colors but feel less “teenie-boppie” if you add a matte top coat.
So I went home and did some testing!
First is three colors for your review with the regular top coat and with matte top coat beside them.
From left to right is “Where did Suzi’s Mango” (OPI), “Tucan if you want to” (OPI) and “Traffic Cone” (Finger Paints)
Regular Top Coat on the left and Matte Top Coat on the right.
Let me show you them individually.
First is “Where did Suzi’s Mango?’ by OPI with Top Coat on the left and Matte Top Coat on the right.
“Toucan if you want to” by OPI. Same as above with Top Coat on the left and Matte Top Coat on the right.
And finally, “Traffic Cone” by Finger Paints. Now this is a neon color so it naturally dries matte. I had to apply a regular Top Coat to get the same effects as above.
I asked a couple of fellows, ranging in age from late 20’s to mid 60’s, what they thought about the colors.
I was surprised that the youngest fellow said the one with the shiny top coat looked like something a teenager would wear and the matte one was classier!!!!
Looks like the lady at Mac knew her stuff!
Please feel free to leave me your thoughts on “To Matte or not to Matte?”
